The J. Knight Foundation was established to provide mentoring, Lifestyle, Leadership, Job

Training, After School Support and Media Arts Training for at risk middle and high school

youth in the Greater Baltimore area. The program will create partnerships with the local

school districts, juvenile court system and businesses. The J. Knight Foundation has setup

five distinct programs:

Mentoring Programs:

Trailblazers: Trailblazers is the central program of The J. Knight Foundation . At risk middle

school students and their mentors (both Peer and adult) participate in a structured program of

support.

Turnaround: Turnaround focuses on students who are chronically suspended from middle and

high schools.

Higher Ground: Higher Ground engages youth involved in the juvenile court system.

Lifestyle and Leadership Program:

Men Training Men: This program is geared towards positive male role models showing young

men how to become true gentlemen. While teaching the properties of respect and courtesy. Will

also focus on fatherhood and relationships.

Be a Lady: This program is geared to Women showing young ladies how to be Ladies and Women.

While teaching the true meaning of being a woman and having respect and standards for

themselves so that they will make young men have respect for them.

The After School Intervention Program:

This program will be geared towards supporting the class room effort by offering focused study

groups and one on one tutoring to youth who are struggling with subjects in the classroom. We will

partner with our kids teachers to support them in areas where the student is falling short.

Job Training:

This program will be geared towards business professionals showing our young men and women:

How to search and apply for employment

How to create a resume that will put them in front of decision makers.

How to present themselves for interviews.

How to improve themselves for there target career.

Media Arts:

This Program is designed to introduce our young people to Media Arts.

Recording Arts: Program is geared towards showing our young people the different avenues within

the music side of the entertainment business. Focusing on the music recording process, the music

production process and the business side of music (management, promotion and legal).

Graphic Arts: Program is geared towards showing our young people the fundamentals of graphic

design, desktop publishing, Web Design, and basic program knowledge. But it all begins with basic

and general computer education.

Broadcasting Arts: Program is geared towards showing our young people the inside world of Radio

and TV broadcasting from the behind the scenes jobs to being in front of the camera or microphone
